Box 1frets 5–8
Box 2frets 7–10
Box 3frets 9–13
Box 4frets 12–15
Box 5frets 14–17
How to read the boxes
- Box 1 starts with the root on the low E string; each next box sits a little higher and shares its low notes with the high notes of the one before.
- The number in a dot is the degree: 1 = root, ♭3 = minor third, plus 4, 5 and ♭7.
- Amber = root, filled = note of the minor chord (1, ♭3, 5), ring = the other two (4, ♭7).
- The number to the left of a diagram is the fret of its top row.
- The same five boxes are the C major pentatonic: same notes, only the root is C.
